What is the name of the domain?
polytools.ca
What is the issue you’re encountering
On my machine, whenever I access my website or ping it, it will (usually) try to connect to my origin server’s ip, not to cloudflare’s proxy address
What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?
I’m using Cloudflare proxy and universal certificate with origin server certificate. I’ve tried blocking all ips except Cloudflare’s IP ranges. I tried to flush DNS cache with ipconfig /flushdns and flush chrome’s DNS cache, rebooted, but my computer insists to attempt to access the origin IP and gets request timeout because it is blocked in the firewall.
However, if I attempt to access it with just any other machine or phone, it gets routed through Cloudflare. How is this happening…
Thanks!
What feature, service or problem is this related to?
DNS records
What are the steps to reproduce the issue?
On my computer only (I think)
I would also add that I said usually it won’t work, because I’ve noticed a weird issue. I have a subdomain (data.polytools.ca). Sometimes it will route data.polytools.ca, but not polytools.ca. And sometimes it will reverse and route polytools.ca properly, but not data.polytools.ca. But they will never work properly together.
So confused
This domain expired and is in its renew period accord to your registrar. Is this a new problem which would correspond to the same timeframe or an ongoing one?
Hmmm I’m not sure why it reports that. It was contracted a week ago, for two years. Today, I’ve changed nameservers to cloudflare’s
So your local DNS cache or the DNS server you use for local resolution may have old nameservers or entries cached. This is not uncommon. If you control the DNS servers used by your machine / LAN you can purge the results there as well.
I’ve changed my workstation’s DNS servers to Google’s and it fixed the problem.
I didn’t think of that because I didn’t configure any DNS server on either of my laptops, or phone. So I thought they are probably just using my ISP’s. But only my workstation had this problem.
Oh well, it works now, thanks a lot!!
