My CNAME records don't work! Help!

I have my website setup with CNAME for sammonnet(dot)com to point to sammonnet(dot)duckdns(dot)org and then have alternative(dot)sammonnet(dot)com going to sammonnet.softether.net, neither work! The actual subdomains (duckdns, softether) work fine and CNAME works on my other NON cloudflare domain (sammon.uk)
Please help!

It looks like Cloudflare flattened the CNAME for the root domain. I’m not seeing a DNS response for the ‘alternative’ subdomain.

I believe this is because RFC does not allow a root domain to be a CNAME, so Cloudflare gets around this by flattening that CNAME to its IP address.
