What do I need to do at Cloudflare if I change my web host?

If you change the provider hosting your website, most of the work will need to be done there. You will need to add everything to your new host.

Once this is done, however, you will need to update your DNS records in Cloudflare to point to your new host.

To do this, you will need to find out what DNS records you need from your new host. These will often appear in a DNS section of your control panel. If they don’t, you will need to contact their support and ask them.

To point your website to the new host, you will need an A, AAAA or CNAME record pointing there. The most common is an A record for and one for pointing to the IP address specified by your host.
These will look like this:

Sometimes they will ask you to create a CNAME record for www instead, such as this:

If you have emails that are hosted with your web host and these are changing providers too, then you will need to update your MX records, also in the DNS tab of the Cloudflare dashboard:
