Message says "flattening not available for this domain"

What is the name of the domain?

wart.win

What is the error number?

no number, just message

What is the error message?

CNAME flattening is not available to this account or zone. Contact support for more information.

What is the issue you’re encountering

I’d like to use the base domain but @ did not seem to work.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Tried @ for everything but did not seem to work. Maybe I didn’t wait long enough?
www.wart.win works fine if I use www for the CNAME record.

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS records

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

It’s possible to see now, that
https://wart.win does not resolve, but
https://www.wart.win does work.

All zones will flatten CNAMEs at the root (@) as that is a requirement, but a paid plan is needed to flatten other CNAME records. The switch for flattening on free plans shouldn’t appear in the dashboard, as it just gives the error you’ve seen, and will be removed at some point.

Will try (again) with @ (automatically set to flatten). Maybe I didn’t wait long enough last time. The form automatically replaced my @ with wart.win.

One hour later, and neither www.wart.win (no IP address) nor wart.win (see below - error, connection closed)

I’ll give it a few more hours in case the SSL certificate needs time to be regenerated?

Google sites tells me it’s connected to this domain.

But it’s really only recognizing www.wart.win
(not wart.win). Does that make any difference?
Do I need another record to point www.wart.win to wart.win?

No joy here.
I’m returning to using www.wart.win
There are too many random discussion threads, hard to find the authoritative one that should explain things.

You don’t need to flatten the CNAME at the root as it’s done anyway.

Google is configured for www.wart.win, you are probably best to redirect wart.win to www.wart.win as here…

Thanks, I was encountering the same issue with my domain https://essaybucket.com
