Malwarebytes users get error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG

Hi Guys,

Malwarebytes users get error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG, how do we fix this?

David

Was your website loading fine on HTTPS before you added it to Cloudflare?

Yes, everything fine. If I turn off Malwarebytes everything loads great. Check this:

That does not check the server, only the proxy. The question was whether it loaded fine before Cloudflare.

Sorry, I misunderstood the question. The site has been on Cloudflare using https for years.

It’s only recently that someone informed me of an issue for Malwarebyles users. Those with the Malwarebytes Browser Guard see this:Screenshot by Lightshot

When I test with Malware on my machine and Web Protection:ON I get the SSL error. if I turn it off, I have no issue. I have not found any evidence of malware on the site.

That brings us back to the original question.

As far as I know, most modern AVs and EDRs perform some sort of MITM on all traffic. It’s likely that Malwarebytes has done something odd and caused that error.

I believe that the error is not related to Cloudflare.

Thanks, so we’ll need to talk to Malwarebytes to see why they are doing this. I’ll report back with what I find.
