Long resolve times for MC Server, issues connecting

I am using my domain bought from squarespace to point to my MC server using cloudflares services. I added an A record as follows:

Name:mc
Content:192.168.1.111 (im using my public ip address from my router)
Proxy Status: DNS Only
TTL: Auto

So, the address to connect to in MC would be something like: mc.example.com. I am running on the default 25565 port so no need for an SRV.

The server works, but it takes ages before I can actually connect to it. Most times it doesn’t connect at all. I really don’t understand if this is a cloudflare issue, squarespace, or something else. I connect instantly locally, so something is weird somewhere.

It is very unlikely this problem is related to DNS resolve times.

If you share your actual domain, I could take a look.

Note: its slow only when connecting from the pc im hosting it from. If I use a vpn on my laptop, hop onto a Chicago server, then connect from my laptop, it connects just fine. Why is this weirdness happening only when I connect to it from my pc using the website domain?

That is not uncommon. I can’t remember the exact reason, but many ISPs have limitations on connecting to your own IP address.
