If I lock my dns records via dashboard, can I still update an A record via API?

Can you screenshot the lock you are referring to?
An appropriately scoped API Token can always edit the Cloudflare configuration. (The exception being Freenom TLDs, which can only edit DNS using the dashboard.
My guess it is locking only the mx records, as it’s under email. But is an beta and I am update the A records regulary via API
