Latency spikes and disconnections while playing Overwatch 2

What is the issue you’re encountering

Hello! I have been using Cloudflare WARP for a few days now to improve my internet connection, particularly while playing Overwatch 2, where I experienced packet loss and latency spikes. WARP has helped reduce both of these but I am still experiencing intermittent ping spikes and disconnections. I’ve tested playing with and without WARP and found that without it my connection becomes extremely unstable. I’m talking latency spikes up to 1900 ms and promptly losing connection to the server. While the overall experience is much better with WARP I do still see ping spikes that can go as high as 346 ms, and occasional packet loss (about 1-2%) which still causes disruptions to my gameplay.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I have tried some troubleshooting on my end, including pinging 400 times to the Amsterdam server (The one I’m connected to). During that I noticed significant spikes and packet loss. Is there any way to stabilise my connection? Please help me sort this out.

Hello there!

This tells me that your normal internet connection is pretty unstable as it is… WARP can improve things, it’s not a new connection each time, but it’s a persistent connection to a node most likely closer to you logically and physically. But it can’t solve all problems, and if the latency spikes in the path between you and the WARP server, there isn’t much to do…

The thing that confuses me most is that this is only a problem on Overwatch. My connection is stable on every other game just not Overwatch.

It might just be the Overwatch server being wonky and being particular about performance targets…
