Last week the SRV record stopped working and no longer points to the port defined

What is the name of the domain?

alterum-mc.net

What is the error number?

no error, just refuses to establish a connection

What is the error message?

no error, just refuses to establish a connection

What is the issue you’re encountering

SRV record used to work and point to a specific port, suddenly it stopped and I can’t get it working

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I had an SRV record that was pointing to play.alterum-mc.net and it was working for well over a month, no issues. Suddenly without changing anything it just stopped working. I can no longer connect to the server via the A record “play” and instead have to connect with the port number appended to the end like “play.alterum-mc.net:58564”. How to get the SRV record working again?

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS records

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

I have tried every combination I can find with none of them resolving the issue. Using “_minecraft._tcp”, “_minecraft._tcp.play” and “_minecraft._tcp.play.alterum-mc.net” as the name

Right now, your SRV is pointing to your root domain:

_minecraft._tcp.play.alterum-mc.net. 300 IN SRV 1 1 58564 alterum-mc.net.

And that’s why it’s not working. Change it back to your play subdomain and it should work again.

I will try that again, but I am fairly sure that I had that set the way you described when it stopped working, which is what drove me to start changing and testing other configurations.

This is the current config, and what it was prior to when it stopped working. It’s still working how it used to
