I've been trying to get strict ssl on and off for years....surely it can't be this difficult?

Okay, the tables are off now

All right, HTTPS does seem to work at this point and you have an origin certificate properly configured.

It also works via Cloudflare right now.

You have no idea how long (*years) I’ve been wanting to try this whole ssl out (but always rationalized it to be too much work…AND IT WAS! LOL

SSL is a great thing, its not too complicated if you know what you are doing, but it certainly requires more care than an insecure connection.

Anyhow, does it work for you now? What if you set the blocks back in place?

I reset the blocks and the traffic diminishes (but I have a controversial site so it’s to be expected). What I mean is …most of my visitors are of dubious origins…some looking for passwords, some trying to find a php some doing stuff in hieroglyphics…so the blocks cut those visitors out since they can’t use the ip address to bypass the cf protections (that’s a variable statement, by the way).

Seems to work then.

Thanks for all your help Sandro!

Doing ssl has to be the biggest waste of time I have ever piddled away (this is a repeated sentiment with ssl).
I woke up to find that something went wrong with the certificates and my site was not responding for some ungodly number or seconds.
The thing I have against the whole ssl scheme is that now an average joe is beholden to another entity whether or not the server is seen on the internet and can obviously be a victim of a certificate being pulled or whatever. Also, if the site is controversial, then we need to pray to other gods to grace us with their “service”.
Maybe someday I’ll try this huge waste of time again but for now, I find it a pathetic joke against humanity.
Hmmm…yuck, now this
