Issue with new domain

Hi Community

I bought a domain yesterday and it isnt using the details setup in the DNS yet for the website url but is for the mail.

If I do a cname reocrd it shows cloudflare but says:
DNS Record not found for the domain.

the domain DNS CName is pointing to a 3rd party app and it seems they use cloudflare too, so I have unchecked the proxy status toggle but still not working

the domain is zero2hero.community

Please advise

here is what it looks like

That’s the apex (root domain). Because you can’t CNAME an Apex, Cloudflare will flatten the CNAME record to work like an A record:

% host zero2hero.community
zero2hero.community has address 104.18.37.70
zero2hero.community has address 172.64.150.186
zero2hero.community has IPv6 address 2606:4700:4400::6812:2546
zero2hero.community has IPv6 address 2606:4700:4400::ac40:96ba

% host zero2hero.circle.so
zero2hero.circle.so has address 172.64.150.186
zero2hero.circle.so has address 104.18.37.70
zero2hero.circle.so has IPv6 address 2606:4700:4400::6812:2546
zero2hero.circle.so has IPv6 address 2606:4700:4400::ac40:96ba

So, it is pointing to the right place.

Ok thanks, so what do I do to fix this?

You can’t fix this. It’s valid behavior. If that’s preventing Circle from validating, you’ll have to ask them to stop checking for a CNAME record for apex records, or use www for your site instead.
