Mail records

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

I’m experiencing an issue where I can send emails from my domain, but I am unable to receive them. Everything was working correctly before, but I recently noticed that incoming emails are no longer reaching my domain.

My domain itself is functioning properly, and it is hosted with GoDaddy. The error I receive is related to SMTP authentication, and it appears that my email client is not permitted to relay through the server without authentication.

The DNS records in Cloudflare were added automatically, and I have not made any manual changes to them. Could you please help me determine if there have been any recent changes or if my current DNS configuration might be impacting email reception?

Thank you for your assistance.

Your A record for mail is proxied. Would you unproxy and check?

From the shared screenshot, all of the email related DNS records should be unproxied :grey: (DNS-only), such as:

  • A mail
  • CNAME autoconfig, autoconfig.admin, autodiscover, autodiscover.admin

Helpful article:

Furthermore, you’ll experience some issue if you’ll be accessing www.admin.domain.com as this is a case for deep-level sub-domain:

To make sure it works fine over :orange: proxied Cloudflare, you’d have to purchase additional Advanced Certificate Manager which does cover 2nd and other deep-level sub-domains as Cloudflare’s Unverisal SSL covers only 1st level.

I tried what you mentioned and also some things that apply from the links you shared. I also tried other things I found in a different search. But it’s still the same.

This is what Outlook answer

As I state before, I am able to send emails, from the Webmail and from my phone client. Just can’t receive

If you’re using MS Outlook client on your device, you might have to enable secure password authentication (SPA).

Since we don’t know your real domain name, we cannot troubleshoot further your DNS records.

Double-check your POP3/IMAP and SMTP hostnames and settings realted to the SSL as well.

Thank you for the response; I think I didn’t explain myself well.

I have a domain registered with GoDaddy, and the DNS is managed through Cloudflare.

When I try to send emails to this domain from my Outlook.com or Gmail.com account (using the web interface, not through any email clients), I receive an error.

However, from the domain (through Webmin in Cpanel, or from an email client on iOS), I can send emails to Outlook.com or Gmail.com.

In other words, it only doesn’t allow me to receive emails.

I’ve attached a screenshot of my DNS configuration in Cloudflare.

It was a setting on Godaddy. Under Email routing inside Cpanel, you need to choose Local Mail Exchanger
