I’ve recently signed up to the free Cloudflare plan and before committing to paying for the Pro plan I wonder if there was a trial? So I could see if it was worth the upgrade?

There is not, but you could also upgrade for a single month and try it that way. You could always follow @MarkMeyer’s advice.
