Is it possible to add following DNS record : https://*.xyz.domain.com where DNS record. Type CNAME

Is it possible to get following DNS record : https://{*}.xyz.domain.com
I have added following record for same :

‘*.xyz’:
octodns:
Cloudflare:
proxied: false
ttl: 1
type: CNAME
value: geot-abc.com.

But its giving me “404 Not Found Error” on the browser. Though DNS resolve correctly using nslookup

Your question is a little unclear, what exactly are you trying to do? Can you provide the actual domain names in question? Do you understand how CNAMEs work in the context of HTTP? CNAMEs are not redirects, are you actually wanting to do a redirect? Please clarify.

My following record works as expected :

xyz :
octodns:
Cloudflare:
proxied: false
ttl: 1
type: CNAME
value: geot-abc. com.

Output url redirects correctly

But * record is not working :

‘*.xyz’:
octodns:
Cloudflare:
proxied: false
ttl: 1
type: CNAME
value: geot-abc. com.

Output url redirects to “404 Not Found Error” on browser

At both the cases DNS resolve correctly using nslookup. Let me know more details requires.

I still have no idea what you’re trying to do. Re-pasting the same information isn’t going to help. Can you please try to explain differently, using the actual hostnames instead of censoring the information? Can you post a screenshot of your DNS page?

Are you trying to use a multi-level nested subdomain like a.b.example.com? It’s not recommended because it complicates the SSL situation. But I’m not sure that’s even what you’re talking about. Seeing your DNS page would help a lot.
