Is it not good to have a non-www when using Cloudflare?

“A month after launching Cloudflare we made an audit of the websites that have activated it. We found out that many of them do not actually benefit from the service, as they are still accessible without WWW. To make it easier, we automated the solution of this issue and now included it in the activation process.“ explains Nikolay Todorov from SiteGround.

 @Hajin,

It is, which is why Siteground changed their implementation to include the root as well as the www

Hi, Thanks for your reply.

Can someone please tell me why CF needs a www? What are the benefits of a wwww site vs the non-www?

Thank you!

 @Hajin,

It is good to have whatever hosts accept traffic for your site behind Cloudflare. What those sites are is your choice.

Cloudflare doesn’t need a www. The quote referenced here was a specific implementation of a Cloudflare partner for a service they deliver and the hosts they choose to configure or support.
