Is Cloudflare a stand-alone solution for SSL certificate? (Error message)

Hi,

SSL Checker informs me that I have a self-signed SSL certificate. See text in the bottom of this post.

I went through the steps to active an SSL certificate through Cloudflare but when I put the https:// in front of my domain name in the browser and hit enter I got an error message (see bottom of this post) and couldn’t access the site.

Is Cloudflare a stand-alone solution or do I need to get the SSL-certificate somewhere else first? I’m a bit confused, lots of people write about using Cloudflare with Lets Encrypt.

Cloudflare is a reverse proxy with its own certificate for your domain.

Your own server needs a valid certificate issued from a standard authority, such as Let’s Encrypt.

Since you didn’t post your domain name, we can’t check how it looks to the public, but the message you posted indicates you’re not using Cloudflare’s proxy service, and whatever certificate you have on your server is not valid for general use.
