Is 1.1.1.1 no longer available locally in Russia?

Hello, does anyone know if 1.1.1.1 has been discontinued on the Russian POPs? I’ve been using the service from Moscow for a while and until recently connected to CF’s Moscow datacenter with excellent ~1ms latency. Recently, 1.1.1.1 has started going through TXL in Germany instead (46ms).

I know generally this sort of thing is peering-related but according to PeeringDB Cloudflare peers with all of the same public exchange points as my ISP, and people with other Russian ISPs have been experiencing the same issue, so I’m wondering if it’s something else. Thanks!

Hello,

Here’s another good tool to see which Cloudflare datacenter your ISP routes you to:

This is most likely because your ISP is choosing a different (cheaper, faster, more efficient) route. I have a FAQ topic for this which has some more possible explanations: https://developers.cloudflare.com/warp-client/known-issues-and-faq#why-am-i-not-connecting-to-a-closer-cloudflare-point-of-presence

Note we intentionally don’t offer the ability to choose your colo. Your scenario is completely valid.
but the vast majority of folks want this to skirt intellectual property rules (watch Netflix in another country, listen to radio, etc…) which isn’t what we are about. It would be interesting to allow this within your own country though, i’ll add that idea to our backlog.

Is this coming from you as a representative of Cloudflare?

Hello,

According to Mr. @GetVladimir , I gave this explanation

Ok, found it at https://www.reddit.com/r/CloudFlare/comments/jqheys/warp_colocation_problem/gbquj9u/. I didn’t realize you were quoting someone from Cloudflare.

Maybe @DotMrCode should clearly mark his answer as a Quote and Link the Reddit Thread in his own answer too. I had the same though that this reads like he is a representative from Cloudflare, which clearly is wrong but could get mixed up by new Members in the Community
