IPv6 /56 ranges in IP Access rules

Is there a good reason why /56 are not accepted in IP Access Rules?

I guess that depends on your definition of “good.” I’d say it’s natural to split ranges where the colons are.

I usually see the /64 assigned, such as for a VPS, or Home IPv6 per an ISP.

Is there someone out there assigning /56?

Well, my current ISP assigns /56. And the previous ISP, which I used for 20 years, assigned /56. And I think most others within IPv6 in New Zealand assign /56.

So there’s a case for it.

I’ve opened a support case.

I mean, I do have four VLANs at home, each a /64. Since there’s only one main/primary (others are IoT, streaming and Guest), I will use the main /64 for now.

Comcast assigns a /56 for business customers, and will assign a /60 for residential customers if they ask for it.
