Invalid CNAME target 9059

Getting error Invalid CNAME target. Cannot use records with partial suffixes. (Code: 9059). Giving WAF control to a 3rd party whilst retaining DNS…changing A record www to CNAME \www.xxx.com.cdn.cloudflare.net\

www.xxx.com.cdn.cloudflare.net is not a valid CNAME target. That’s Cloudflare’s edge. So it points back to itself and will never resolve to a thing. If the 3rd party is using Cloudflare for SaaS they should provide you an actual hostname as a target… if they’re not using Cloudflare for SaaS then uh, I don’t think a CNAME is the right delegation method.

thanks yes xxx I have used to replace the domain name.

Doesn’t matter, anything.cdn.cloudflare.net is not a valid target. What I wrote applies regardless of the specific subdomain in question.
