If i access this site https://businesstech.co.za, the Subject Alternative Name shows mediavoice.com?
The same thing happens with https://moodle.org site
i get a certificate for script.crazyegg.com?!?
for both this site an the other site if i refresh a few times, then i get the correct certificate?!?
That’s how most Cloudflare certificates work, they are shared certificates between a group of domains with the first being always sni.cloudflaressl.com
.
There are more than SANs in the same certificate as the browser is accepting it, meaning it matches your domain as well.
That would most likely be a chance that your browser shows your domain as the first SAN for the cert.
This is actually a little bit odd, as there are no other SANs listed. Did you get some sort of invalid certificate error when this certificate was shown?
This is what the cert looks like when i get the correct cert
I just figured the first image was cut off weird… re-looking at the second I would agree with you. Weird.
As it should be.
and correct cert for the other site
sorry, i snipped a bit close the last time
No issues, I just looked too fast and went with the normal response as this are common questions since many have thought this as an issue. It’s going away as most people are now migrated to SNI based personalised certificates, but not sure if it’s 100% completed (@TKlein might know).
@bbillson, I’d need you to create a ticket, so we can further investigate this. This is indeed odd and should not happen. Also, please make sure to attach the screenshots you’ve send here, and maybe an HAR file if you can replicate this issue.
Then just post your ticket number here and do a quick “@tklein” and I’ll look into this further.
Still ongoing, as far as I know. Some old zones might still have the old, packed, SNI certificates.
Gotcha, thanks! I assumed they would be transferred over at the next cert renewal… won’t be long I expect though.
Thank you, will do.
lol, tried to go to the link for support on the HAR file and also got this … refreshed a few times and it showed the support site
This is really interesting. Once it gets solved, if possible, I’m curios to hear what the issue was.
