Internal CNAME pointing to my proxied domain at Cloudflare

We got a client trying to use a custom CNAME inside their structure (internal DNS) pointing to our site, but they receive the error 1001.
I asked him to add their zone to Cloudflare, they did it then they got the error ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH.
Is there a way to make it work? How can we do that?
