Inquiry Regarding Domain Recovery and Associated Fees

Dear Community Members,

I hope you are all doing well. I am reaching out to the Cloudflare community as I need some information regarding the recovery of a domain and the associated fees for domain recovery.

Recently, I received a notification from my current registrar (Netcup), informing me that the domain recovery would cost 151.80 €. The domain is currently in the following statuses:

  • PendingDelete
  • serverHold
  • serverTransferProhibited
  • redemptionPeriod

I am interested in how Cloudflare handles such cases and whether there are any costs associated with domain recovery at Cloudflare. If so, is there a link where the costs are visible?

Cloudflare is an at-cost registrar and redemption fees are imposed by the registry, so you would be responsible for any fees charged for a domain that had lapsed long enough to be in the redemption period. You would also probably need to open a ticket and hope that you are able to resolve it before the redemption period ends.

Your best option is to set your domain to auto-renew so you don’t have to pay redemption fees.
