Maxmind (who Cloudflare use for geolocation) shows your expected country, but for /23. It may be the database has been updated recently and Cloudflare hasn’t got the update yet. https://www.maxmind.com/en/geoip-web-services-demo
In here https://cf.sjr.dev/ show my IP as Russian. But this connection not been in Russia, it’s Tajikistan. How long will it take for cloudflare to update its database?
I am Abdullah, the DevRel of IPinfo. I will be active on the Cloudflare Community to address IP geolocation issues on Cloudflare as we are providing the data for everyone here.
In terms of submitting correction, check our guidelines here.
You can also ping me here or preferably in our community. Cheers!
I’m really glad you’ll be actively helping with IP geolocation issues in the Cloudflare community. It’s great that IPinfo is providing this data.
I’ve reviewed your guidelines for submitting corrections. Thanks for pointing them out.
I hope you will indicate our geolocation correctly, because due to incorrect information our users cannot access certain sites.
Looking forward to collaborating!
The corrections you have shared have been verified, and it will take about a day from when you submitted the correction to be reflected in the data. Cloudflare will then ingest that data. So, on a lenient scale, it should take about 24-48 hours to update.
We are also investigating why we mislocated the IP address. Every time anyone submits a correction, it triggers an investigation process. That is why it is important for us to be systematic about it.
By the way, it is a long shot, but do you have any contact with the company: eastera.tj?
We generate our IP geolocation through our probe servers (~1,000 servers distributed across 130 countries). If we can get a server in their ASN - AS49472, we can more or less guarantee that our data will never be wrong for them.
I have reached out to them before through their support desk but did not get any response: https://eastera.tj/hosting/
That’s great news! Thanks for the update on the correction process and the estimated 24-48 hour timeframe for the IP address to be updated. It’s reassuring to know that each correction triggers an investigation, ensuring accuracy.
Regarding eastera.tj (ASN - AS49472), yes, I do have contact with them. I am a system administrator at Eastera, which is the company you’re referring to.
I’d be happy to discuss the possibility of getting a probe server within our ASN (AS49472) to improve the accuracy of your IP geolocation data for us. Please let me know (email: [email protected]) what would be the best way to proceed with this.
