Trying to connect to my OpenVPN server and it fails because it isn’t given the correct IP address. I have changed the Nameservers on GoDaddy to the ones issued to me, and as far as I can tell DNSSEC wasn’t set in GoDaddy when I changed them.

You need to unproxy the DNS entry.

Yes, that worked, but I lose the IP Address protection? I’m new to this but do I gain anything having the Cloudflare DNS over my original GoDaddy one in this situation?

Yes you do, but you won’t be able to run a VPN service over the proxies anyhow, neither from a technical point of view nor according to the terms of service.

Thanks. So I think I’ll setup a new VPN only entry which is un-proxied, and leave the others proxied.

That should work, assuming the other entries are only for web services. Still, read the terms of service so that you are not in violation.
