Migrated domain, however I was billed for an additional year but the expiration date has not extended by a year. Expected expiry is 2026.

I’m confused here as well. I have a billing error but there appears to be no way to resolve this expect via some ticketing system that has no SLA or expected response time.

Did you renew the domain within the 45 days before the transfer?

Yes I renewed it recently

So I see there is some thing about if your domain expires and then you renew it within the 45 day window after the expiry, then this is basically cancelled and refunded back to the original registar.

But my domain hadnt expired, that’s actually not until the end of the month so I didn’t see this rule applying.

Now I’m wondering whether the previous payment I had made just hasn’t been credited to the domain yet, as perhaps this doesn’t the happen until the domain expiry date hits?

If you transfer a domain within 45 days after an (auto)-renewal, the initial renewal is cancelled and you only get the 1 year from the transfer.

So my domain wasn’t transferred during the auto renewal grace period, it wasn’t set to expire until the end of August.

My guess is that WordPress never applied the extension so I just disputed the charge with them.

If the domain did not auto-renew, you’ll probably have to wait for a reply on your ticket. The registrar team will be able to give you a definitive answer as to what happened.

Awesome, so after 6 weeks waiting, the ticket was just closed with no resolution. Guess I just have to open a new one.

Have to say the support related around a potential billing issue on sign up is significantly worse than I expected.
