IMAP email not auto syncing on Android Gmail App

Hi,

I’ve been using my IMAP based email account on my android gmail app with no problems, it would auto sync email after every 15 minutes or so and I would get notifications as normal. After I migrated my website to cloudflare the emails are working but they are no longer auto syncing. When I open the gmail app on my phone and go to the account, only then do the emails start syncing to my inbox. This was not happening before migration to cloudflare. Any ideas?

my mail server DNS setting is not proxied. it is set as DNS only.

As a test, if you Pause Cloudlare, then wait five minutes, does it sync properly?
