Images with ssl url in outlook for windows does not work

Hello
I am facing a strange issue that occurs in Outlook for Windows using images that points to a websited protected by Cloudflare. I suspect that there is some incompatibilities with Cloudflare SSL certificate.

The issue does not occurs on other clients. Outlook for Android works too. Loading the html used in the email in a common browser, I have no issues at all. The issue is limited in Outlook for windows.

Please note that I made no changes in my SSL configuration. I cannot open anymore also very old newsletter that I sent on 2021.

Changing https url in http all works fine.

Does anyone experienced the same issue? I read in this forum that I should disable Hot Link function ,but is disabled.

Thanks

Or you might be showing them on a different domain, which would be the “Hotlink Protection” feature being enabled at Cloudflare dashboard → Scrape Shield?

Are the images “broken” as if the little icon is shown, or white space showing instead of them?

Might be you’re using the wrong SSL/TLS option at Cloudflare dashboard? Is it Flexible SSL?
If so, you might have Mixed content issue then.

Can you share an example?

Before moving to Cloudflare, was your Website working over HTTPS connection?
Meaning, you have a valid SSL certificate installed at your origin host/server for your domain name?

You could determine this by:

  1. Use the “Pause Cloudflare on Site” option from the Overview tab for your domain at dash.cloudflare.com .
  2. The link is in the lower right corner of that page.
  3. Give it five minutes to take effect, then make sure site is working as expected with HTTPS.
  4. In case if you experience an SSL error, proceed to step 5)
  5. Check with your hosting provider / cPanel AutoSSL / Let’s Encrypt / ACME / Certbot and renew it
  6. Only then should you un-pause Cloudflare and double-check your SSL/TLS setting to make sure it’s Full (Strict).

My ssl option is Flexible SSL. The server uses a self signed certificate. I thint that if I had a wrong SSL configuration, I could not see the website images at all… but I can surf without any issue…

How can it be a mixed content issue? These errors occurs if in a https web page you point to http image url… but we are talking about an email, shown in an email client…

I see an icon similar to the one i attached right now.

Thanks

 this option obviously creates an issue …

Hopefully MS Outlook hasn’t changed something or Microsoft due to some possible recent update, meaning they would block showing external content in emails such as images.

Don’t you have some “Pop-up” bar asking “download and show images” or a notification like “ms outlook blocked content, click to view and download” something?
