I'm trying to manage dns for a .gov domain

Can I do that on a free plan? If so, where do I do that from?

Welcome to the Cloudflare Community. :logodrop:

Have you added your domain to Cloudflare yet?

I can’t add it until Cloudflare adds an SOA record to their nameservers, I think. It is a .gov domain.

But there’s no way for me to get a hold of their support team with my free account. I found another post for a .gov domain and a support rep for Cloudflare opened a ticket for them and they added the record on their nameservers at Cloudflare.

AFAIK the SOA is created when the zone is added to Cloudflare. At least that is how it works with non-.gov domains. What happens when you add the domain?

I get this message

" clearfieldpa.gov cannot be registered as Cloudflare does not yet support the “.gov” extension."

^I had to get rid of the “.” before gov in order to reply.

Clearly there is room for improvement in that message, we know that Cloudflare hosts plenty of .gov DNS. Can you submit a request in the dashboard and share the ticket number here so we can escalate it?

I couldn’t find an option to submit a request since I have a free account. Can you point me in the right direction?

@vmcginnis are you trying to +Add Site with clearfieldpa.gov or trying to purchase the domain clearfieldpa.gov? Cloudflare Registrar does not yet support purchasing .gov domains, but you should be able to login, select +Add Site and add the domain without issue.

Ah perfect! I was trying to add the domain but instead I added it as a site like you mentioned. I have the domain purchased but just need to manage DNS. I can’t find nameservers to point the domain to. Any idea where I can find those?

Yes, they will be listed at the bottom of this page
https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/:zone/dns

Thank you very much! It looks like I’m good to go now.
