Im not routed to the nearest pop

hi

i have 2 sites.
https://autovacbot.com and
https://autovacbot.com.sg

both are hosted on the same server, using the same account.

but when i loaded autovacbot.c0m/cdn-cgi/trace, it gives me this:
> fl=4f59
> h=autovacbot.c0m
> ip=121.121.xx.xxx
> ts=1555574901.016
> visit_scheme=https
> uag=Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:66.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/66.0
> colo=SJC
> http=http/2
> loc=MY
> tls=TLSv1.3
> sni=plaintext
> warp=off

but when i load autovacbot.com.sg/cdn-cgi/trace i get this:
fl=35f171
h=autovacbot.com.sg
ip=121.121.xx.xxx
ts=1555574514.752
visit_scheme=https
uag=Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:66.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/66.0
colo=SIN
http=http/2
loc=MY
tls=TLSv1.3
sni=plaintext
warp=off

can someone tell me why is this happening? im located in Malaysia and my server is located in Singapore. technically i should be routed to Singapore? im getting very bad TTFB for autovacbot.c0m due to this.

can anyone help me?

the autovacbot.com is routed to San Jose, and autovacbot.com.sg is routed to Singapore.

this is so weird. hope to get some explanation from members!

Thanks

The article should explain it all.

hi @sandro
thanks for the reply.
but technically if im on the same server, i should be having the same ISP?

but they are loaded differently thou. is it normal?

These two domains have different IP addresses and apparently your ISP routes them differently.

how they have different IP addresses?

my server has only 1 ip, and both of them are hosted on the same server.

Check the IP addresses of your two domains.

hi

do you mean CF ip like this?
FireShot%20Screen%20Capture%20%23071%20-%20'Network%20Tools_%20DNS%2CIP%2CEmail'%20-%20mxtoolbox_com_SuperTool_aspx_action%3Da_autovacbot_com%26run%3Dtoolpage

if its CF ip then it’s different. but the server ip is identical.

Precisely and this where the different routing comes into play.

@sandro thanks for the clarification. so will the CF ip change? or im stuck with the same ip?

You are pretty much stuck with these addresses. You could contact Cloudflare’s support, address the issue, and maybe they will be able to reassign addresses but I would not count on that.

okay say even thou im stucked with these addresses, the routing will still change according to whatever the ISP or CF determine to be the most efficient route?

thanks

It mostly comes down to the ISP. So the routing may change at any time, but again it wouldnt be something I’d count on. You could contact your ISP and clarify that but - surprise :slight_smile: - I would not count on them actually addressing that issue either.

The most realistic approach might be to remove that domain from Cloudflare, wait a bit, and re-add it. That might give you a different set of IPs which might get routed differently. But also keep in mind IP addresses occasionally change, so the addresses might change for your current setup at some point anyhow, respectively if you change them and get a better routing you still might get addresses later on which are routed via the US again.
