Verification Emails from Apple/iCloud not being received in inbox
What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?
Contacted Apple Support who advised me to contact Cloudflare due to (according to their records, “Invalid TXT record - refer customer to domain registrar to update DNS records”.
I also tried sending a test email to my custom domain email and got the following error:
"Address not found. Your message wasn’t delivered to @phantompagecouk because the address couldn’t be found or is unable to receive email.
The response from the remote server was: 550 5.1.1 : user does not exist”.
Perhaps worth mentioning, initially I set up the iCloud+ Custom Domain Email(s) for my use only and everything worked fine. However, I later realised I needed to select the option to share the custom domain with others. I therefore deleted the existing domain from iCloud+ and started again so that I could include sharing the domain with others. The domain was accepted but when I got to the step of sending the verification email, they were sent but not received. So am perpetually left at that stage where verification is pending and am unable to complete the setup.
I asked Apple Support if the problem stemmed from me deleting the original Custom Domain Email (for myself only) and then starting over again (to share with others) but they indicated this should not have been an issue.
NB I haven’t attached a screenshot of my DNS records as I’m unsure if there are any security issues posting them here. Am happy to do so, if someone can advise whether I need to redact any details.
I have searched other community posts for this problem but could not find one that matched my problem. Any guidance on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
What are the steps to reproduce the issue?
I have tried numerous times re-sending the verification emails but each time they are not received and therefore am unable to verify them.
Did they tell you what TXT record they believe is incorrect?
Everything looks to be in order, according to the instructions from that page.
The only thing that I am unable to verify from my end, is whether or not that your domain’s verification token actually is “apple-domain=kXjQvzqlI44UeOIq”.
I.e., the first TXT record from their list.
I can confirm it’s there, but if it’s an exact match, … is a different discussion.
If we’re playing with the assumption that the email address is “[email protected]”.
Then iCloud has been configured to accept email deliveries for your domain name.
However, the email account for [email protected] (i.e. the “example@” account) hasn’t yet been created in iCloud.

Apologies, I’m not sure how to format my responses in the way you have to each point you have addressed, therefore…
Did they tell you what TXT record they believe is incorrect?
No, they just said there was an Invalid TXT record.
The only thing that I am unable to verify from my end, is whether or not that your domain’s verification token actually is “apple-domain=kXjQvzqlI44UeOIq** ”.**
I wondered about this, whether that unique reference was the issue due to setting it up in the first place then deleting it (for the reason as mentioned) then creating it again. I guess I’ll need to mention this specifically when I go back to Apple Support.
However, the email account for [email protected] (i.e. the “example@** ” account) hasn’t yet been created in iCloud.**
I presume this may be why I’m stuck at the email verification pending state. As mentioned, I previously created 3 email addresses for my domain using my system and they worked perfectly but then I realised I needed to share this option with others and so the only way to do that seemed to be to delete and start again, which is what I did and am now in this predicament.

I repeatedly went through this process while I was in contact with Apple Support yesterday and this morning. They advised I seek support from Cloudflare (because of the TXT problem they were reporting at their end.. They did say to return back to them if I was not able to resolve the issue here, so I will do that. They did assure mme that one way or another, this will get resolved.
