I cannot get the squarespace DNS requirements for A name to work

What is the name of the domain?

hsaconsultants.co.uk

What is the issue you’re encountering

I have squarespace A name settings that will not show up.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I have tried to use proxied, then DNS only with new settings and nothing has worked. I have removed all other A name settings from cloudflare but it still doesn’t work.

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS records

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

check records

“DNS only” is what you need to have set for those records. The screenshot is showing Cloudflare proxy IP addresses for @ and they are still proxied…

Make sure to set them to “DNS only”. If unsure you can show a screenshot of your Cloudflare DNS records.

Thank you for helping.

I haven’t used cloudflare for domains before. I am wondering if it isn’t really saving the settings.

The DNS is how they should be, but at the moment still are returning as if proxied…

That’s a bit odd. Can you delete all 4 of the A records, wait 5 minutes, then add them back again to see if that fixes it.

Just checking again, I see a proxied DNS record for mail that isn’t in your screenshot. Can you confirm if the bar at the top of the page shows “Active” or “Finish Setup”?

Hi - when I look at the settings - mail was removed yesterday.

There is an orange “finish set up” button at the top. When I click it nothing happens.

I have thought all along that there is something about that - being unable to click through on FINISH SET UP - might mean not completing the process.

It means you have added the domain to a second Cloudflare account. Your domain is already active in another account which is where those proxied records (and mail, which is still resolving) are coming from.

Either locate that account, and use that. Or complete the setup for this new account and you will need to change the nameservers at the registrar to the 2 new Cloudflare ones that will be allocated.

Thank you! I am going to check with the account holder - I appreciate your help!

Thank you so much for your guidance. The two accounts was the issue. Once I got into the other account - I was able to save the settings and get rid of the mail CNAME. I so appreciate your assistance.
