I added a domain which isn't mine by accident, what do I do?

I am very new to domains, dns etc and I got confused that thought that I could register a new domain through cloudflare. Now cloudflare seems to think I want to add this domain to its dns, but I don’t… I don’t even own it!! I’m worried I’ll get into trouble for adding someone elses domain, but cloudflare doesn’t even seem bothered that I don’t own it… and is giving me no way to delete it?? wtf?

Just delete is from your account.

Apologies in advance for the profanity. Just panicking slightly and finding hard to believe a company would make it so hard to remove.

Understood and the world could use more honest people…

ok, thanks, sorry. I couldn’t see that option, because I hadn’t set it up, then I decided to set it up in the hope that option would appear. Then I really started panicking. Once it was setup, the delete option appeared. Phew. Thanks.

For future reference, to remove a site

  1. Go to the Cloudflare Dashboard https://dash.cloudflare.com/
  2. Select the domain
  3. in the Overview tab, scroll to the bottom right column where is says “Remove site from Cloudflare”
