I added a CNAME record for Google Postmaster verification. I’s been nearly an hour and it is still unverified. Is that normal?

Make sure the entry is not proxied.

To follow up on why this is required:

Proxying changes the IP address of the CNAME record to point to Cloudflare. Because Google Postmaster is attempting to look at the content of the CNAME record to verify your domain, it checks and sees Cloudflare IPs.

It’s not expecting this, so verification fails. Unproxying the record should work, as Sandro said.
