How to update nameservers assigned by Cloudflare?

What is the name of the domain?

1635.org

What is the error number?

N/A

What is the error message?

“Find the list of nameservers at your registrar. Add both of your assigned Cloudflare nameservers, remove any other nameservers, and save your changes.”

What is the issue you’re encountering

Cloudflare IS my registrar, as I understand.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Searched for several days unsuccessfully for a way to do the update as directed in the quoted direction above. In 5 days, the 28 day limit on my free account will be reached, and I expect my domain will be removed, according to what I understand is the protocol.

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

Nameservers

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

Endless circular searching among the Dashboard items for the entry to a page where I can implement the instructions given.

It looks like you might be in the wrong Cloudflare account.

The domain you mentioned is active in an account with these nameservers:

1635.org. 3600 IN NS ivy.ns.cloudflare.com.
1635.org. 3600 IN NS trace.ns.cloudflare.com.

However, it was also added to another account with these nameservers:

dion.ns.cloudflare.com
maria.ns.cloudflare.com

Is there any chance that you have another Cloudflare login? Did you maybe login with an Apple account initially?

Thank you for responding. I do not believe that I have two Cloudflare accounts.

I never heard of Cloudflare before September 28th, when I created my first account there and selected the domain name “1635.org.” It is a free, full-service account.

The two nameservers beginning “ivy” and “trace” showed in the ICANN WHOIS Lookup results when I searched for the registrar of the 1635.org domain, as I understand is the way to begin updating the nameservers. As I understand the Lookup results, Cloudflare is the registrar of my domain. To my memory, I have never tried to create this domain anywhere else.
The other two nameservers, begininng “dion” and “maria,” are identified on my single Cloudflare account’s Dashboard as the “assigned Cloudflare nameservers” that I should use to upgrade nameservers, which I understand is the single remaining step before my domain will be activated.

So I tried to add the “dion” and “maria” nameservers to the DNS Records in my Dashboard, but that was rejected on grounds of “overlapping,” which seems very strange to me. But, when I added the “ivy” and “trace” nameservers to the same DNS Records, they were accepted. But the domain is not yet activated. About 8 hours ago I initiated a check for nameserver update, but have not received any confirmation of success in that.
In 4 days, as I understand, if the domain is not activated, it will be automatically deleted. I’d like to avoid that, if possible. Thanks for any constructive help toward that goal.

What happened to make it “now everything is good”?

Have you already created a ticket? If not, please create a registrar ticket and share the number here.

My account is a free account. My understanding is that Cloudflare does not let me create a Registrar Ticket. I tried to get support several times earlier, but each time a very impersonal reply came, saying my options are 1) read the CF documentation, and 2) ask in the Forum…

I understand that a new domain not yet activated within 28 days will be automatically deleted. Mine was bought on 9/28, so I expect the 28th day deadline to be activated is Saturday Oct 26. Two days from now. Will it be automatically deleted while the support ticket response is pending?

Hi there,

I cannot share information about other customers accounts, but like @Laudian suggested, the zone is indeed associated with another customer’s account.
If you’re sure this is yours I suggest checking all your different email inboxes for Cloudflare related emails to find which email owns the zone.

Take care.
