I got my domain thru namecheap. Question: do I need to transfer my domain from namecheap to Cloudflare? If so please let me know the steps if not how can I update my nameserver in Cloudflare.

Welcome to the Cloudflare Community. 
If you are trying to use the Cloudflare proxy with your domain for the security and performance features that it provides, you do not need to transfer the registration to Cloudflare registrar. You only need to change your nameservers at you current registrar, which you indicated is Namecheap.
If that is your goal, the following guide has detailed instructions, otherwise please explain your desired outcome.
