How to tidy up DNS

We’ve built up a DNS with loads of records, many of which are certainly redundant and I’d like to work out which these are and to remove them. There are clues in some of the entries that start with “old” and “legacy” but there are others. Is there a tool that can help identify which records in the DNS are no good? I haven’t found anything that will do it, but might be looking in the wrong place.

Many thanks

Cloudflare has no way to determine which DNS records are necessary, nor do we. You would have to make a list of all the services your domain uses (email, mailing lists, website, etc), then find out from each of those providers which records you need.

Before you make any changes, I recommend you Export your DNS records, and keep that file in a safe place.
