How to stop Language - c (bots) traffic from my Website?

What is the domain name?

Please share your search results url:

When you tested your domain using the [Cloudflare Diagnostic Center], what were the results?

Describe the issue you are having:
49% of our traffic is language “c” with a 99+% bounce rate – likely bots

What error message or number are you receiving?

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Was the site working with SSL prior to adding it to Cloudflare?
Been on Cloudflare a long time…

What are the steps to reproduce the error:

  1. Open Google analytics – Overview / language
  2. Language ‘C’ at top of the list at 49%, 99% bounce rate

Have you tried from another browser and/or incognito mode?

Please attach a screenshot of the error:

I’m not clear what those requests are, or where you are seeing “language c”. Can you show us an analytics or server log or entry that you’d like to block?

I’m sure many of your customers may have the same issue, but not be aware of it.
I noticed this issue when I clicked on Audience / Geo / Language.

The Rise of Bot Traffic Since 1/21
Most of us may not be aware, since it appears the “c” language has increased dramatically in 2022

FYI… Under Google Analytics Settings, we have had [x] Ignore Known Bots checked since the beginning…

Below are stats for the recent 90 days…
“c” has moved to the Top language.
it’s 49.6% if our traffic
It has a 99.65% Bounce rate
It it stays on our site for less than 1 second!

The spikes above are usually Monday & Thursday

As you can see, 49.84% of our traffic is Language c and has a 99.65% Bounce Rate
If this were removed from Analytics, we’d have a more accurate look at our site stats.
(But… just removing it from Analytics may not affect SEO as it would if Google did not recognize and counts these visits/bounces, etc.)
– Ignored them in the first place.

English language shows only a .63% Bounce Rate!
And 6.71 Pages vs. 1

If you guys were to eliminate Language “c” from Google analytics and from being tracking by Google search algorithm…
I’m sure our SEO would improve dramatically!
If Google saw that our site had a <5% Bounce Rate vs. the 49% Bounce Rate…

Add this to your service and you’d be heroes!

Unfortunately, the language header is not available as a field in the WAF.

I suggest that you look for some other common element(s) you can use to block these requests.

Did you get my entire email – including the screen grab?
I’m suggesting Cloudflare create it to fix this issue.
I’m sure we are not alone.

What is the Cloudflare support email?

Yes, but it does not provide any actionable information.

Fix what? Bots are always crawling sites.

Paid plans can open tickets via that dashboard → Support menu in upper right corner.
