How to request reverse DNS

What is the name of the domain?

What is the isssue you’re encountering

On The Complete IP check for sending Mailservers, our domain is blocklisted so our emails are going to spam. I was suggested to request a “Reverse DNS” from our host, but I’m not showing this as an option. Can someone help?

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

Reverse DNS is handled by your hosting provider. It’s not something you can do yourself.

If you are renting a server, your hosting menu would typically have a place where you can set the reverse DNS for your IP address.

Is Cloudflare not the hosting provider? So sorry, we don’t necessarily have a tech person here!

It is not. Cloudflare does not offer any email sending service. The reverse DNS needs to be configured by the provider who operates the server sending your emails.

Cloudflare is not your webhosting provider either. Cloudflare sits between your visitors and your webhost to provide security and performance enhancements.

A PTR record (reverse DNS) isn’t going to get your domain removed from the SURBL ABUSE list. You will need to visit their site and submit a removal request after first verifying that your aren’t engaging in any behavior that meets their listing criteria.

You probably should find someone experienced in such things if you intend to remain involved in ecommerce and sending commercial emails. Missteps in that arena can be quite costly.
