Hi all, please can I get some advice. I have made a website and when I type the URL into the browser without www, I get a 525 error. I’ve no idea how to fix this.
The site is help in Google cloud storage platform, the domain is with Google domains and has Cloudfare DNS settings.
Any advice appreciated.
You need to make sure your server is properly configured for that hostname. You probably best pause Cloudflare for now (Overview screen, bottom right) and fix the server and only unpause Cloudflare once it works fine.
If it only works fine on “www”, another approach would be Redirect example.com to www.example.com

Do you know if it’s possible to speak to someone from cloudfare about this? I’m not able to get past the 525 error with the answer here.
Cloudflare provides phone support only on Enterprise plans.

Thanks for the suggestion but pausing it means the site is not live. The site works fine if a full url is written with https and www. so I will keep it live whilst I try and figure out why removing www causes 525.

Pausing only takes Cloudflare out of the equation, exactly what you you need to do at this point to fix this. This is a server issue, not a Cloudflare one.
Also, you said www works fine, so why does the redirect not work?
