How to point sub domain to different VPS IP

I have added a domain on Cloudflare and pointed it to the vertical. Now I want to point subdomain let’s suppose write.domain.com to another VPS hosting.

I added A record and pointed it to IP but it is not working giving me the error of host down. When I try to pause Cloudflare then subdomain starts working without SSL. I have other domains also which working fine only an issue with vercel-connected domains.

Are you able to share more information about the error you are seeing? You mention ‘host down’ does it have a 52x HTTP error code?
