I have searched a dozen help links looking to address this and none do, they all address related situations or say to just leave it.
Security message: This record exposes the IP address used in the A record on mailxxxcom, which you have proxied through Cloudflare.
Email routing is disabled in Cloudflare.
I am not using email with this url at all, anywhere, how do I fix the security issue?
Can I delete the MX record?
It’s not a problem as such, it’s just warning you that you have an IP address used in records that are both proxied and un-proxied (DNS only). It means those IP addresses are exposed by DNS and people could target that IP address directly to try to bypass Cloudflare protections.
If, like many people, you had a single server running web services and a mail server, that would be the case.
Ideally you want to keep your origin IP “secret” and set the firewall to only allow your own admin and Cloudflare’s IP addresses access so scanning the IP address or looking up its history reveals nothing about what is there.
If you are not using email for that domain, then delete the MX record and if that was the only “DNS only” record using your IP address, the warning will go away.
Thanks. Yes that is the only DNS only showing that security message.
