How to allow a CNAME to point to my domain?

OK, so I am trying to cname test. originSite. website (which is not on Cloudflare, but I do have access to edit DNS) to siteoncloudflare. website and then siteoncloudflare. website has a RULE that is forwarding all traffic to www.siteIhaveNoControlOver. website

  1. CNAME is correct as I have checked it on dnschecker. com
  2. When I try to access siteoncloudflare. com it properly forwards to www.siteIhaveNoControlOver. com
  3. When I try to load test.originSite. com I get “ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH

This happens when my DNS Settings are in “orange” (proxied)

If I grey them out, then I get “This site can’t be reached”

I am stuck and do not know what to do.
Please help.
