Do not know how to add subdomaun/child domain in free account
What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?
Can i add a subdomain for the domain ive already added on the free acount? My site wingguardians needs to host a website on the root of wingguardians with tag.wingguardians.com resolving to petcloud.smartapbiz.com for app login. Right now i can only seemingly CNAME a root domain. How can i set up a website on my root wingguardians domain with a different subdomain to sign in to the webapp?
I tried creating the subdomain at my.domain provider first to create the initial the zone records. When i import the dns zone records, none of the subdomain records transfer, only the ones for the root domain appear. No matter what i try, i cannot inport an existing subdomain.
I just read that creating subdomains in cloudflare in an enterprise only feature.
Are there no work arounds? I thought if the subdomain already existed on the root, that cloudflare would import the records, but it doesnt.
Cloudflare can “import” records automatically when the domain is first added to Cloudflare. All it does is searches a list of common subdomains, looks them up, and add them if it finds them. If the subdomain is not one of those, Cloudflare won’t find it.
Your DNS is now on Cloudflare so that’s where you need to add any subdomains. Adding subdomains elsewhere won’t have any effect.
Adding subdomains as a separate zone on Cloudflare is an Enterprise-only feature (a “subdomain setup”), but adding subdomains to the DNS of a zone already on Cloudflare can be done on any plan as you already have for www.
