I wanted to ask for help regarding the creation a subdomain for my website.
My domain comes from Namecheap, and as I was trying to create a subdomain from my CF dashboard.
There is this section I’m missing, and don’t know what to fill in; IPv4 address (required).
I am not hosting with Namecheap, and currently have no clue how to access the address.
May someone please help?
Thank you.
Also, while I have you, is it possible to transfer that domain and its ownership completely to CF? Going back and forth is a chore, and would appreciate having everything under one roof.
Usually, your hosting provider will have a manual for adding custom domains. You will need to follow that, as configuration on the server is required to add a subdomain.
The IP address comes from the hosting provider, not from Cloudflare or Namecheap.
Maybe, that depends on what exactly the domain is. You can find supported TLDs here: TLD Policies
What back and forth do you mean? The only thing you would do on Namecheap’s side is to pay their bills, everything else regarding your domain is handled in Cloudflare.
What do you mean by hosting provider? Mind sharing an example.
Regardless, here is what I have; a domain from Namecheap, deployed my project to CF Pages, and I did the required configuration of the domain on CF itself. I don’t have anything beyond this.
Oh, I meant the hassle of configuring for different places, figuring out what needs what to work where… plus the docs are not very clear. Mind you, this is just an inconvenience, not a problem.
