How do I Point Domain to Server

How do i point my Domain to the server within Cloudflare?

my A record in DNS panel looks something like this for example(This isn’t exact its an example)

type________Name__________________Content________TTL_______Proxy Status
A________websitewebsite.com_____23.111.111.111______Auto_______Proxied

So confused. Any help would be grateful

This part should be the IP address of your website server’s IP address. Your host should have this information in the DNS section of your account over there.

Sdayman,
Thank you so much for commenting. and what steps do you specifically take to point the domain to the server within cloudflare?

So basically the problem is it doesn’t say @ in the name area of the A record, it says websitewebsite.com. But when i edit and change the name from websitewebsite.com and hit save it doesn’t save the @ it reverts to websitewebsite.com

@ is shorthand for your domain name. This is expected behavior.

okay, then how do i check to see if my domain is pointed to the server in cloudflare

and again, thank you for your help

Poke around at dnschecker.org
This will show you your “A” and “CNAME” records, as well as NS and SOA for Cloudflare nameservers.

SO basically i am trying to help a friend out with this type of stuff. I am just a front end coder. so this is above my pay grade. but when they say, point the domain to the server in cloudflare what is it they are telling me to do? from what you have given me it looks like it already is pointing to the server in cloudflare

You haven’t posted the actual domain name, so this makes troubleshooting difficult. But the process usually involves:

  1. Setting the domain’s two name servers to the ones Cloudflare assigns at the bottom of the DNS page. This is done at the domain registrar.
  2. Add all your DNS records to Cloudflare. Also on the DNS page. All these records have to match all the records at the current host.

okay I created a new instance in lightsale. The old one kept giving me problems. My next question is this. The old Ip address i Have in my A record, Do i need to change it to the new public IP address that was assigned to my new instance so the domain is pointed at the server within cloudflare?
