How do I find the IP address of my main domain?

What is the error message?

This domain does not resolve to an IP address.

What is the issue you’re encountering

I cannot find the IP address of my main domain and I tried Investigate and nothing. I am trying to create a subdomain.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I have bought this domain from GoDaddy and i called their support and they said they can’t help because it is going through Cloudflare. I went into my DNS records and cannot find any A or AAAA records that has my IP address. I have tried the Investigate option in the Cloudflare Security and it says “This domain does not resolve to an IP address.” I don’t understand why this is happening. Please assist.

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

I don’t know

That’s because you’re using a CNAME record that is :orange: to try an point to your domain. But the name of the record is incorrect, it’s www and not the name of your domain. I’d start by going the DNS app of your cloudflare dashboard and chaining the name of the proxied :orange: CNAME to the name of you domain and see if the site loads for you.

Hi, thank you for your response and apologies as I am not extremely savvy when it comes to DNS records and I am worried about screwing something up and it bringing down the site completely.

I am not sure how to progress with your instructions so I was hoping for a video tutorial to show me step by step how to do this???

I have attached a screenshot of my DNS records and I do have a CNAME record with www… is this correct… not even sure if this matters. Please assist. Thank you again

No worries, we’re here to help. The site loads fine for me, what CNAME record do you need to create?

Hi, thanks again for the assistance! It is greatly appreciated.

So the end result that I am trying to accomplish is creating a subdomain. I want it to be “go.coursescashflow.com”.

Here is the bulk of my DNS records if that assists in any way:

Upon researching what I have to do, I have to create an A record (I think) with the name as “go” and the content as “(IP address, which is what I am lacking)”, then it has to be proxied…

As I cannot find the IP address, I went on who.is and located it but there are FIVE different IP addresses which makes me confused as seen below:

(I will add onto the next post as I am restricted to only one media upload)

What do I do in order to have the subdomain “go.coursescashflow.com” without having the site go down from my stupidity haha

Thanks!

Here is the who.is screenshot:

Here is a good doc on adding a cname Create subdomain records · Cloudflare DNS docs

The contents/value of your cname is not an ip but a pointer to the subdirectory you are adding. A records (for Address) contents are open addresses

Thanks for the resource. May I ask if this is correct before I put the record into Cloudflare for the subdomain “go.coursescashflow.com”?

Type: CNAME
Name: go
Content: coursescashflow.com
Proxy status: Proxied

Please let me know if this is correct. I read through the document but I am not sure if this is correct. Again, I am just trying to create a subdomain “go.coursescashflow.com” but I am unable to locate the IP address of my main domain as there are FIVE, as mentioned in the previous message. Thank you!

I am using ClickFunnels and their support team said that I have to:

  1. Go to DNS settings for my domain
  2. Add a new CNAME record with the Name as “go” and Target as “target.clickfunnels.com

Which one is correct?

Thank you!

I’d follow the clickfunnels documentation & suggestion, name go target target.clickfunnels.com, type CNAME
