Prior to changing my DNS to Cloudflare today, I was alerted by my host that my site would be down for a few minutes while the change takes place, and that the change could take up to 8h. Both statements are inaccurate, as it’s been 10h and I’m still down. My host confirmed that the name servers I provided them are correct, but that I could be down up to 48h. Is there something more I should do here at Cloudflare? None of this sounds right–after all, if a site comes down for 48h as a result of an action, then the screen – both at the host’s end and at Cloudflare’s would be covered in huge red warnings, right?
Thank you for the info. Unfortunately, I do not have the background to understand what to do. It seems like you’re saying there are no DNS records set – but isn’t proving the server names to my host setting it? What are these records, where do I find them?
Cloudflare offers to try and find existing ones when you first set up the domain. If you didn’t do that. then you can either copy the DNS records from your previous DNS provider, or you can ask you web and mail hosts what records are needed.
