I am trying to connect a subdomain, but it gives me a 521 error.
Not really sure how to solve the problem, although I have read a few articles in Cloudflare´s Docs.
Can anyone please help with that?
The subdomain is: https://shop.koelner-musikakademie.de/
I am sorry to hear you’re experiencing an issue here.
In case you’re getting an error like “A record is missing”, please find more useful information at the article below:
Nevertheless, by using the step-by-step tutorial from below you can add a DNS record and point it to your origin host/server IP address to “connect the sub-domain”:
Furthermore, currently, I get the message “Invalid SSL certificate”, error 526.
Below are some suggestions and troubleshooting steps:
Before moving to Cloudflare, was your Website working over HTTPS connection?
If so, did you had an valid SSL certificate installed at your origin host / server which covers the needed sub-domain shop?
Can you double-check if your web hosting provider issued an SSL certificate which is still a valid one for your domain(s)?
Before doing anything at Cloudflare settings, you could determine if you have a valid SSL certificate installed at the origin host/server by your web hosting provider or your own VPS/dedicated server following the steps from below:
Use the “Pause Cloudflare on Site” option from the Overview tab for your domain at dash.cloudflare.com .
The link is in the lower right corner of that page.
Give it five minutes to take effect.
Check with your hosting provider / cPanel AutoSSL / ACME.sh / Certbot / Let’s Encrypt or some other and renew it accordingly.
Make sure site is working as expected without any errors via HTTPS.
Only then should you un-pause Cloudflare and double-check your SSL/TLS setting to make sure it’s Full (Strict).
Here is a way to re-check if you correctly setup the SSL for your domain with Cloudflare:
Furthermore, if you’d also like to have www.shop.koelner-musikakademie.de, then you’d have to purchase an Advanced Certificate Manager since it’s a case of an “deep sub-domain” for which the Universal SSL doesn’t work:
Last but not least, kindly have a look here for more information regarding correct SSL settings at the SSL/TLS tab on Cloudflare dashboard:
many many thanks for the time you spent to help me with my issue.
There was a 521 error which I nearly managed to solve, and then I got the 526 error.
The whole thing was a problem with my provider and nothing related to Cloudflare.
I am going to mark this a resolved and once more I would like to thank you for your effort.
