Hostgator having too many issues using CloudFlare

I am having hostgator shared hosting and i am in an issue
I contact the hosting people they are saying me to set the ssl settings in cloudflare to flexible, but when i do that my wordpress admin wont open. It shows too many redirects. Then when i contacted then they say that is because i am using cloudflare i have to set the wordpress url setting to http instead of https

when i create new sub domains

I have never seen such an issue anywhere else, therefore i don’t know what to do. To me this seems like an issue with the hostgator, I am using the same settings for all my hosting Namecheap, Hostinger and for others. It’s the first time I bought hosting from a hostgator. Will i be able to fix this problem? It wasted 2 days for me. Please help me to fix this issue.

If i change the ssl settings too flexible the my wordpress admin dashboard wont open, it will show a message in chrome saying “too many redirects”.

Try setting your ssl settings in Cloudflare to full (strict).
If you have it set to flexible, then Cloudflare will try to fetch your website via http://origin-server:80, which in your case returns a redirect to https://origin-server:443, probably because your origin server has SSL already configured at it’s side.

If I set the SSL to full then when I create new sub domain they sub domain won’t work.

You need to create the subdomain with SSL. If this is cPanel, then use AutoSSL and then generate a certificate after you’ve added its DNS record to Cloudflare.

This is an issue that I faced only with hostgator, but when I contacted them they are saying since I am using cloudflare this issue occur.

I can’t keep on contacting the support every time I create a new sub domain.

Hi Vishnu,

We’ve asked an Escalations Manager from HostGator India to reach out and see if we can assist with this issue. Our apologies that we may have dropped the ball with this one. We’ll take another look. Thank you.
