Hostgator can't connect domain because A record is proxied

What is the issue you’re encountering

I’m trying to set up a hosting instance on Hostgator. When trying to connect the domain via an A record, it’s detecting the proxied A records from Cloudflare instead of the expected IP. Our IT company has advised me that all A records need to stay proxied. Is there any way to get the Hostgator instance connected while the Cloudflare A record is proxied?

I’d give it a try and make sure the proxied DNS records are temporarly unproxied (DNS-only). Once the check is okay, make them back proxied and make sure you’re using the Full (Strict) SSL setup as you’d have a valid SSL certificate for your domain at your hostgator hosting.
